                                      Protecting You

                                      Picture

Somehow with a REALTOR's enthusiasm to give their clients more and more marketing exposure they have forgotten to consider the long term ramifications of implementing new technologies.  Just like IBM learned in January of 2011, that FACEBOOK was a dangerous website for it's employees to use and the resultant exposure to their company immense, so too have recent revelations exposed dangers to the "FREE for ALL" in posting listings all over the net.

Right now criminals are using information they gather from online real estate websites to gain an advantage in attacking your family.  Whether it is a pedophile looking to find out were the children live in his neighborhood or the break-in artist looking for a big screen t.v. to sell to fund his drug habit, Home Sellers across Canada are giving these criminals a safe way to look into their homes and lives undetected.

When a listing is posted online in a non-login required format, every criminal in your community is given unhindered access to seeing your home.  They can "case" your home without anyone knowing they are doing it.  They can see where your children sleep and what special things your child has in their bedroom, they can learn if the lady of the house is single, they can zoom in on virtual tours to see what kind of alarm system you have in your home and even figure out the best time of day to visit your home with you not being there.

The question is WHY??  Why is there a need for unhindered access?  Why is there a need to let everyone in Canada or the World see the inside of your home, when truthfully usually less than 40 buyers will really be interested.

Yes, realtor.ca is fun to review but if a REALTOR's job is to sell a home we really don't have to be worried about "nosy neighbors" judging your decorating style.  Our job is to find the buyers that genuinely have interest in purchasing your home.  Those real buyers have no problem logging in to have access to your listing and they have no problem having their activity monitored if it means home owners family's are protected. Since Buyers receive benefits themselves from signing in they actually prefer this method.  After all they do it already on FACEBOOK and GOOGLE every day.

So how can you a home seller protect their own family?  It's easy and accomplished with one call to 905-336-7300 (ask for Ross) or email to rosskay@rosskay.com .
